Project Brief: For this school project, our task was to create an icon system and an application that relates to the concepts and information of a zoo. After visiting zoos and researching potential improvements, I chose to develop an informative system that increases understanding of not only the animals, but the habitats in which they live.
Process, Experience, and Learning: Starting with the icon design of 8 habitats of the world, I used repetitive shapes formed to a habitat graphic to convey the vast areas of these biomes. Once a representative symbol was created, I designed a 3-dimensional signage system to emphasize the individual habitat. These would be placed near a well known animal of each habitat and provide educational information for a guest of the zoo.
